Women have been urged to be submissive to their husbands and respect them if they are to build stable and developmental families.

The call was made by Rev. Fr. Lenard Kamukama, the curate priest for Nyakishojwa Parish, Mbarara Archdiocese who said the move once adopted by all women will create love and build peace in families.

He made the remarks on Sunday (November 19) while at the celebrations of end of year Holy Mass for Catholics hailing from Nyakishojwa Parish living and working in Kampala Metropolitan at Dina Dona Preparatory School – Kasubi Kampala.

Fr. Owahamusitari as popularly known in the diocese also advised women in the Nyakishojwa Parish Kampala Centre (NKPC) to honor their husbands as the bible requires despite the day to day challenges they may face and accord them full respect in order for the families to be stable, sustainable, and developmental

He noted with concern that many families nowadays are rapidly breaking down because women have lost respect for their husbands, attributing this to the increase in cases of domestic violence, poor parenting and other family-related problems.

“We have got single mothers, they are very many because their parents (mothers) did not nurture and prepare them well for the institution of marriage,” he said.

On the other hand, the prelate advised men to be responsible parents and work towards building stable families and cautioned them against being adulterous.

“When I was growing, I was used to hearing about spoilt youth. But, today, there is a lot of sexual immorality amongst old married women and men.” he said.

“When we are teaching about family, I must say no to adultery that’s is when you will prosper in your marriage,”

He however also urged husbands to be supportive to their wives and asked all couples to love God and bring up their children to be God-fearing.
