Amidst reports of Museveni, Muhoozi divide, the Western Region Coordinator of NRM, Zephline Muhangi has said they are not fighting Gen. Muhoozi’s political career emphasizing they honor him as the country’s CDF.
“We do not oppose him, but rather honor him as the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and a serving General,” said Muhangi.
Appearing on Sky Television’s Morning At Sky show on Thursday, Muhangi emphasized that campaigning for Gen. Muhoozi is currently illegal.
Lately, there are speculations of bickering among NRM members over ideological differences with some members especially the young population promoting Muhoozi’s presidency in the 2026 elections while another group is asking President Museveni to contest for a reelection with Tova Ku Main slogans.
Muhangi however announced NRM’s willingness to embrace and integrate the Patriotic League Uganda (PLU) ideology into their own, fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity.
Additionally, he addressed concerns about the Katete bridge situation, urging government officials to monitor and find solutions to ensure public safety.
Muhangi stressed the importance of regular monitoring of service centers by responsible government officials and suggested benchmarking services across districts to ensure quality delivery.
The Western Region Coordinator further disclosed that preparations to celebrate President Museveni’s achievements by NRM supporters in Ankole region due October 2024, at Boma Grounds Mbarara City are in high gears after the party approved regional celebrations.
