Police have released on bond 18 of the suspects that were arrested in connections with the tragic attack of Lhubiriha Secondary School in Ngando cell, Mpondwe Bwera, Kasese on June 16.
Over 20 collaborators of the ADF rebels who allegedly attacked the school had been arrested in connections to the massacre however, the police spokesperson , Fred Enanga on Monday disclosed that some of the suspects have since been released on police bond
He said only four suspects including two school director and the headteacher are still in police custody to help in investigations.
“We have information that at the end of last term, the school had only two students but this term, he (Kule) helped in the recruitment of more students to the school,” Enanga said.
Those still in detention are Nelson Tom Kule – school director, Isaac Kambesa – headteacher, Bashir Sale – traditional herbalist and Luan Asiimwe.
Findings of the police investigations identified that the director, Kule is being held to scrutiny over a number of security reasons including recruiting of new students into the school while they are suspicious of the headteacher regarding his Congolese origin and past work history in Tanzania.
At least 44 people including students have been confirmed dead following the attack and six students were abducted by the rebels and used to loot food from the school store
