A total of 230 ceramic food plates that were being used to serve food to teachers at the exercise for the selection of students joining Senior One at UMA show grounds, Lugogo have been reported stolen, according to the supplier.
Christine Mugisha, the assistant manager at Cliffet Catering Services a company contracted to feed over 1,000 teachers says that they are counting losses of the missing plates and that they cannot trace the persons who stole them.
Reports shows that on Thursday the company lost over 200 plates and a search for the lost plates was futile. It is alleged that the place was fluked by intruders suspectedly members of the Phaneroo fellowship, casual porters at the neighbouring construction sites, the exhibitors or idlers guising as teachers during meals time.
Mugisha says that it was their first time to serve at the students’ selection exercise which made it difficult for them to identify the right teachers to be served because they were not given identifications.
“We looked around every corner for the plates but we couldn’t find them. We are yet to find out which group exactly stole our plates,” she said.”
As a mean to prevent the loss of more items, on Friday morning the company staff denied access to serving points anybody who was not dressed like a teacher. This was after they became suspicious of some faces lining up for breakfast.
“Don’t serve those people, they are not teachers. They could be the ones who stole our plates yesterday,” one of the staff screamed
