According to reports, a group of unidentified and 28 students on Friday stormed last week stormed the University police post and rescued their Guild President, a one Wilson Abaho who had been arrested on alleged Traffic charges he had committed last month.

The rowdy students thereafter went to the University and forcefully entered the office of the University Secretary, Annah Asiimwe Tibazindwa whom they confined in the office and threatened to harm. The students who were demanding for the explanations accused the university of surrendering their Guild President to police without following lawful measures.

As the students turned more unruly, the BSU police post Officer In Charge, OC ASP Babirye called in reinforcement and a total of 29 students were rounded and the University secretary rescued unhurt.

Parrots UG reporters in Mbarara have learned that the twenty nine were on Monday evening arraigned before the Mbarara Grade One Magistrate Doreen Ainembabazi who charged them with four counts and remanded them to yet unknown detention until November 9th,2021.

Its should be known that Bishop Stuart University is currently conducting final exams and the arrested students are likely to miss out on their exams.

Attempts to talk to the university public relations officer (PRO) Rose Rwankole were futile but our team is committed to bring to you further developments as they happen.
