The Government through Ministry of finance, planning and economic development has announced it will be launching the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFI) on Thursday
“On Thursday November 30th, 2023, the Bank of Uganda together with the Ministry of finance will launch the second five-year National Financial Inclusion Strategy for the period 2023-28,” read the ministry’s statement in parts.
Mack Ouma, the Director, National Payment Systems said the Strategic Plan aims to reduce poverty and promote economic growth among the population through savings, credit, insurance, investment and Islamic banking among others.
The plan also targets to improve the livelihoods of marginalized groups such as women, forcibly displaced persons, youth, MSMEs, rural dwellers and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) among others.
“The new strategy proposes strategic interventions to be implemented by various stakeholders over the next 5years,” said Ouma.
The strategy will be launched by the minister of finance, Hon. Matia Kasaija.
