The territorial police in greater Bushenyi region has launched a manhunt for unknown suspects who allegedly kidnapped a 32-year-old woman in Mitooma district.
The incident occured on Sunday 14th April, 2024, at around 22:30hrs while the victim was on her way to home from Kashensero Town in Kashenshero Town Council.
It is alleged that the suspects who were driving in a yet to be identified vehicle stopped the victim, covered her mouth with an alleged intoxicated cloth and grabbed her into a waiting vehicle before asking her to call home for help.
“She was kidnapped by unknown assailants who grabbed her and covered her mouth with a cloth then placed her in a yet to be identified vehicle and drove her shortly then they stopped and she called the reporter who is a brother in law for help on her Telephone 0782625765,” police reported.
The greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson Martial Tumusiime, identified the victim as Superior Naturinda, 32, a resident of Rukunyu cell Kashenshero Town Council in Mitooma District. The case of kidnap was reported to police by Patrick Muhwezi Bindeeba Patrick, a resident of Kabwohe in Sheema District.
Police immediately swung into action and inquiries were instituted vide SD ref 16/14/04/2024 of Kashenshero Police Station and CRB 227/2024 of CPS Mitooma. However, this did not yield good results as both the victim and her kidnappers are still missing.
“The district Criminal Investigator has submitted phone number (0782625765) of the victim for possible tracking,” said Martial. Meanwhile, the search for the victim and suspects continues.
