The police in Kampala are holding Kassanda south county Member of Parliament, Frank Kabuye Kibirige and teo other suspects on allegations of murder of the student at Makerere University guild election campaigns.
On Thursday evening, one student identified as Betungura Bewatte, a student at UCU Kampala Campus, Kampala Campus and a resident of Kikoni Zone B, Makerere 3 Parish Kawempe Division in Kampala. He was announced dead after a yet to identify person stabbed him in the neck following a scuffle between two political parties of the FDC and NUP.
The deceased according to reports had gone to campaign for the FDC candidate Justus Tukamushaba little did he know that he would meet his death at the campaigns.
Three people have been arrested to help police in investigations. They are Hon. Frank Kanuye, Allan Ssekidde and Muzafaru Kabuurwe.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police says that Kabuye has been arrested for participating in the chaos.
“We have arrested three people whom we believe were part of the chaos.” Owoyesigyire said
It is alleged that during the campaigns a scuffle ensued between two Political party supporters that resulted in the stabbing of the deceased by students who were allegedly led by Hon. Kabuye Frank among others.

When police arrived at the scene, they found blood stains believed to be for the deceased inside Nsibirwa Hall where he hid there after the scuffle hereafter he was rushed to Makerere hospital facility where he died.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for Postmortem.
Owoyesigyire says that police is still recording statement and retrieving the CCTV footages to track down the culprits.
“We have cordoned off the area, statements are still being recorded and CCTV footages will be retrieved to aid in the ongoing investigations.”
Parrots UG has also learned that tbe university council has called off the election that was supposed to be conducted today to unspecified date as they investigate violence that has characterized the guild campaigns.
Betungura will be buried in Nyakizinga sub-county Ruhinda South County Mitooma district.
By press time, Hon. Kabuye Frank was still detained at CPS Kampala, Ssekidde Allan at Wandegeya police whereas was being detained at old Kampala police station.
