According to news from the Islamic state of Pakistan, the 28-year-old Zara Abid’s social media platforms are inaccessible moments after internet users poured abusive comments criticizing her clothes and lifestyle.

Its not yet clear whether her family, friends or Facebook deactivated her accounts.

She was presumed dead after a plane in which she was on board crashed in a residential part of Karachi on Friday last week.

Victims of the plane have not been named however other sources indicate that two men survived the crash.

There were initial reports that Zara had survived. However, media reports said that her brother issued a plea to people to stop spreading fake news.

As news spread that Zara Abid was thought to have been on the ill-fated flight on Friday,  hundreds of comments were posted on her social media accounts by religious radicals questioning her faith and adherences to Islamic practices.

One twitter user said; “Allah Pak doesn’t like those women who are showing their body parts to everyone and jannat (Heaven) is only for pure men and pure women.”

Many other comments criticized that she would be punished by Hellfires while others posted pictures of her wearing clothes deemed as Anti-Islam and examples of sinful immoral behaviors.

Zara Abid is a female model and an actress whose conduct, lifestyle and clothing is considerably against the religious and cultural practices in Pakistan.

She worked with some of the biggest brands in Pakistani fashion and in January this year won “Best Female Model” at the Him Style Awards.

Leading designers paid tribute to her professionalism and style. She was set to make her debut as an actress later this year.

Prominent women in Pakistan have become subjects of abuse in the name of religious piety.
