At least three persons, members of one family in Rubanda district have been confirmed dead after they were struck by lightning in Sunday afternoon downpours.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson has identified the deceased as Kanunu Ambrose, 35, and his two sons; Asiimwe Justus, 7 and Habomugisha Arnold, 5, all residents of Rwomuyora cell, Nyarurambi parish, Mukono sub county in Rubanda district.
One person identified as Allen Uwimana, Kanunu’s wife survived with minor injuries.
It is alleged that the family was inside their home when the lightning struck while Uwimana was in the kitchen preparing supper.
