Smiles engulfed the visages of Christians particularly catholics of Buhimba Catholic Parish in Kyabugimbi Igaara East Bushenyi District as His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha the Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese ordained two deacons in priesthood today September 2.
The ordained priests Rev Dn Luke Nyoreka and Rev Dn Cosmas Namanya, both hailing from the same parish.
During the ordination, the Archbishop also officially opened the novelty catholic church at Buhimba Parish that attracted many people from different parts of the country.
Buhimba was elevated to a parish status in the 2001 from Mushanga Catholic Parish.
The current Parish Priest, Rev . Fr. Dennis Abigaba has worked tirelessly to develop the parish as vividly seen by the magnificent novelty church that was opened today.
The deacons both attended Kitabi Seminary in Ibaare subcounty in Bushenyi District western Uganda for their secondary studies from where they later joined different national major seminaries for their priestly formation and ecclesiastical studies .
This has been a memorable event in the history of this noble parish as the two priests become the first priests born from this place ever since the her inception of the parish.
The Buhimba Ordination follow the recent mega official Mbarara Archdiocese diaconate and priestly ordination that took place last week on Sunday in which Archbishop Lambert ordained 9 Priests and 13 deacons. Today’s ordination brings a total number of ordained Priests in Mbarara Archdiocese to 11 for the year 2023.
‘’These people are not going to be unemployed, we are appointing them responsibilities with effect from today, it is very expensive to educate a priest, we now require 220 Uganda million shillings to facilitate their education, I therefore appeal to people of good will to generously support this cause,’ appealed Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha
All the new priests have been appointed to different parts of the Archdiocese to start on their pastoral works.
Other priests that were ordained last week on Sunday are Fr. Sunday Ernest, Fr. Henry Kamugisha , Fr. Vianey Turyajunaki , Fr. Crescent Mandela, Fr. Bruno Tumwesigye , Fr. Richard Kakuru, Fr. Emmanuel Byakwiza, Fr. Abel Atwiine and Fr. Gordon Muhebwa.
