Female members of the government funded Parish Development Model program in Sheema district are finding difficulties to obtain the funds from male chairpersons who demand for sexual favours before approving their loans.
This was revealed by the District Woman Representative Hon. Rosemary Nyakikongoro while meeting with leaders to monitor government programs in the area particularly, the performance of the PDM program.
According to the legislator, there are numerous complaints from women borrowers of PDM funds that they are sexually harassed by male chairpersons something that affects the demand and supply of credit.
Singling out sub-counties like Kigarama, Hon. Nyakikongoro ordered the District Security teams to probe into sexual harassment allegations in PDM and arrest the culprits.
The Sheema District Internal Security Officer (DISO), Wilson Ashabaheebwa said security will investigate the allegations and ensure anybody that is involved is arrested and brought to book.
