According to the police report, at around 5:30 am on October 29th, Mugisha, Ronald and Abooki responded to a distress call from Kyoshabire Nuriat, who sought their help in restraining a violent Kule Brian.
The suspect’s parents had tied him up with ropes as he was undergoing treatment for mental health illness but decided to untie him after receiving some dozes of herbal medication from the village herbalist Kyoshabire but
Kule became unruly.
When Mugisha arrived at the scene, Kule was throwing stones at Kyoshabire’s main house. At around 4:00 am, Kule became too violent and hit Mugisha on the head with a burnt brick, causing him to fall unconscious.
Kule then grabbed the panga that Mugisha had brought with him and brutally attacked him, leaving him with multiple sharp cut injuries on his head, arms, and legs. Mugisha was found lying in a spine position dressed in a yellow T-shirt and black shorts with suspected blood stains.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and investigations are underway to determine his mental status..
The body of the deceased was transported to Rugazi Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination.
The incident has left the community in shock, with many calling for increased awareness and education on mental health issues. The police have urged members of the public to seek proper medical attention for individuals with mental health challenges.
