The Alliance for National Transformation -ANT has unveiled to the public two opposition MPs Paul Mwiru (Jinja East) Hon Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo Municipality) who crossed and joined the party.
The two were unveiled today morning during the party weekly press brief at their Headquarters Buganda Road in Kampala.
They said that their defections from previous parties is based on the transparency and fairness observed by the ANT party.
Mwiru who has been a pillar in the FDC confessed that he is no longer officially part of the Najjanankumbi political camp. He added that his decision was reached at by will.
“Its a great honor to be with ANT because I want to form part of the new future which puts people first. I’m ANT from today officially by choice and will,” said Mwiru.
He pledged his total support to the values of the ANT party.
“The big task a head requires an organization group with a conscious and consistent way to make contributions and turn around this country, this is what I have come to do,” he added.

On his part, the Ntungamo municipality Hon Gerald Karuhanga (Independent) praised the ANT revealing his long time desires to be part of the party.
“If it wasn’t for the constitution of Uganda that impairs MPs, certainty, I would have joined at the launch of ANT,” said Karuhanga.
He said the ANT cherishes values and believes in placing the people first before self despite the prevailing challenges.
The duo were welcomed by among other members the Acting National Coordinator of the ANT Alice Alaso who expressed excitements to the new entrants.
“It gives us a big joy to witness your homecoming. We are so excited to have you here. You have always been part and parcel of this process,” she said.
Alaso said the party still have a lot of tasks to perform including mobilisation of new members.
ANT recently declared Maj Gen Gregory Mugisha Muntu as their presidential flag bearer in the forthcoming 2021-26 General elections.
