Three people died on Thursday at around 10:45hrs after a Fuso lorry truck lost control, knocked three people off the road and overturned at Kabaraga village in Kyanamira subcounty, Kabale district

Three people including the lorry driver and two pedestrians died on the spot while one was fatally injured.

The Kigezi region police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate identified the deceased as Nyanzi Hassan, 40, driver and resident of Nansana municipality wakiso district, Ngabirano Cate, 50, and Deus Kabareebe, 73, both pedestrians and residents of kabaraga village Kyanamira sub county Kabale district. The casualty has been identified as Paulina Safari, 49, also a pedestrian and resident of the same village.

Maate said the vehicle (Fuso Lorry truck reg no. UBH453L) had a mechanical problem leading to the accident.

“… The vehicle developed mechanical problem, he lost control and knocked three people off the road and over turned and died on spot,” Maate explained.

Police led by SP Betubiza Fabian assisted by ASP Mucunguzi, OC traffic Kabale visited the scene of the accident, and bodies of the victims were taken to Kabale regional hospital while the motor vehicle was towed to CPS Kabale pending iov inspection.

Maate urged road users particularly motor vehicle operators to frequently service their vehicles before hitting the road.
