Toyota Uganda Ltd has temporarily closed its Kampala branch at First street Industrial area as three of their staff employees test positive for corona virus.
Mahmood Omar, the Managing Director Toyota Uganda Ltd stated that the company will be closing its branch in Kampala while they continue to monitor the situation.
“In the meantime, our Kampala branch at First street Industrial Area will be closed effective today as additional steps, as guided by the authorities are put in place and all our staff are confirmed in good health, strict safety measures, SOPs guidelines continue to be followed at our Head offices Namanve Industrial park as well as the rest of our countrywide branches which are open.” Read Toyota Uganda Ltd statement on COVID-19

The remarks follows ministry of health reports that three of the manufacturer’s staff are among the 14 cases confirmed from the tests conducted yesterday Aug9th.
Omar said last week three of their employees were reported with mildflue like symptoms one of the symptoms for COVID-19.
He added that they have been referred to Mulago hospital where they are receiving treatment and the rest of the employees are under mandatory 14days quarantine.
Today, MoH confirmed 2 new corona virus death cases bringing the number to 9 fatalities.
In a statement by Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services in the MoH, the two recorded cases are a 27yr old male from Kyangwari Refugee camp in Hoima district and the other was a male resident of Kampala who died at Nsambya hospital.
Uganda has of today August 10, recorded 1,297 cumulative COVID-19 cases, 1,137 recoveries and 9 fatalities.
