The High Court in Kampala has sentenced to prison a 50-year-old witch doctor after he pleaded guilty of being in possession of three human skulls and blood in his shrine in shrine at Kazinga Masajja, Kibira B village, Masajja Parish, Makindye Ssabagabo in Wakiso District.
The convict is John Magombe, a resident of Masajja in Makindye Ssabagabo, in Wakiso district. He has been sentenced to jail for seven years.
While reading the sentence, High Court Judge Margaret Mutonyi said the convict should serve as an example for other traditional healers who use human body parts to manipulate and scare their clients.
The judge noted that such human body parts are obtained either through human sacrifice or disturbing the peace of the dead by exhuming graves.
Magombe pleaded guilty to the offence and prompting the judge to reduce on the maximum penalty of life imprisonment to a jail term for seven (7) years including the time he spend on remand. This is because the police did not waste time investigating to ascertain the source of the human skulls after the convict claimed he bought them from fellow witch doctors.
This means that Magombe will serve a hail term for 5 years, 8 months and 4 days.
