KAMPALA
Insurance Companies drawn from the entire country on Tuesday donated tents to Uganda Police Force (UPF) as a gesture of giving back to the community initiative. This was during the annual insurance week which kicks started on Monday at the millennium park in Kampala.
Alhaj Kaddunabbi Ibrahim Lubega Pop, the Chief executive officer, Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), the guest of honor at the function, said donating tents to the men and women in uniform carrying out police duties is gestures of patriotism because they sacrifice allot to guarantee security of Ugandans and all road users.

“This donation is aimed at offering shelter to our men and women in uniform who have been enduring the harsh rays of the sun and rain while carrying out their noble duties to guarantee security to Ugandans and all road users”, he said.
Alhaj Kaddunabbi,added that Insurance plays a critical role in protecting individuals and businesses against unforeseen circumstances, supports the smooth functioning of economies, and contributes to financial stability.
He said the number of people that have embraced insurance premiums has tremendously increased because of sensitization campaigns by IRA and other stakeholders in the insurance industry.
Mr. Bengo Badru, Insurance Association of Uganda representative, said the insurance week is a platform for insurance companies to network and share experiences, in addition to answering pertinent questions from members of the public.
The Insurance week was characterized by a series of humanitarian activities, which included blood donations, eye sight screening and HIV/AIDS testing among others.
This year’s Insurance week runs under the theme: “Redefining, Trust, Innovation and Inclusivity”
Insurance Companies that graced the occasion include; AAR,PAX, ICEA LION, Insurance Association Brokers of Uganda, Legacy and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) among many others.
