Hon. Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda, the chairperson Electoral Commission for FDC said the meeting will take place at the party headquarters Najjanankumbi on Tuesday (May 13) at 10:00 am.

Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, FDC Presidential flag bearer aspirant.

“This engagement is a vital step in building consensus and transparency in our internal electoral process. The outcomes of the meeting will be shared with both party members and the general public,” Toterebuka said

Two candidates were nominated for the FDC presidential flag bearer race. They are party president Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat alias POA, and the party Secretary General and Budadiri West member of parliament, Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi James. Toterebuka was addressing journalists at the FDC headquarters on Monday.

Meanwhile, the FDC EC has today, Monday, May 12, opened the window for the picking of nomination forms for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) including Youth, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Older Persons will officially close tomorrow, Tuesday 13th May, 2025.

“Nominations for SIG candidates will be held on May 15 and 16, 2025, and will be conducted at the district level by FDC District Electoral Supervisors,” Toterebuka added.

The exercise is in preparation for the national-level nominations scheduled to begin on June 2, 2025. The Commission emphasized that no fees are charged for candidates seeking to run for councillor positions at any level within the party.

“We call upon our District Electoral Supervisors to uphold the highest standards of impartiality and constitutionalism throughout the nomination exercise,” read part of the statement.

In related developments, the party’s Electoral Commission has set May 30, 2025, as the deadline for submission of Expression of Interest forms for Members of Parliament, LCV Chairpersons, Municipal Mayors, Division and Sub-County Chairpersons, and Councilors, excluding those from Special Interest Groups.

Hon. Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda, FDC Electoral Commission chairperson.

Nomination forms for these positions will be issued on June 4 and 5, while official nomination will take place on June 9 and 10, 2025. The Commission cautioned members against late submissions, stating that strict adherence to the deadlines will be enforced.

“Members must comply with the guidelines issued. Failure to meet deadlines will not be excused, and responsibility lies squarely with individual aspirants,” the Commission warned.

FDC will vote for their presidential flag bearer at a Delegates Conference slated for July, to compete in the national polls in 2026.
