The Democratic Front (DF) Electoral Commission is set to commence the official receipt of nomination and expression of interest forms from aspiring candidates starting tomorrow, Friday, July 11, 2025.
According to the party’s electoral roadmap, local government aspirants will have until August 15 to submit their forms, while parliamentary hopefuls have until August 22.
DF’s Secretary for Mobilisation and Party Elections, Henry Lubowa, confirmed that all preparations have been finalized to ensure a smooth nomination process.
“All logistical arrangements have been made. The exercise will officially begin at 8:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM at our party headquarters in Namirembe, along Bishop Road,” said Lubowa.
He revealed that over 50 aspirants are expected to return their forms on the opening day, adding that the electoral commission is ready to receive them.
Lubowa also reminded all aspirants of the mandatory requirements, which include proof of DF party membership, evidence of nomination fee payment, and all necessary documentation.
“We urge all candidates to comply with the set guidelines and refrain from attempting to influence commission members through gifts or inducements,” he warned.
The DF Party earlier announced its nomination fees, as follows:
• Presidential aspirants: UGX 500,000
• Members of Parliament: UGX 150,000
• Municipal Mayors: UGX 100,000
• KCCA City Councilors: UGX 70,000
• LC5 Councilors, Municipal Councilors, LC3 Chairpersons: UGX 20,000
• Sub-county Councilors: UGX 10,000
Electoral Commissioner Nannyunja Alice reiterated the need for punctuality and adherence to procedures to avoid unnecessary delays.
“We encourage all aspirants to respect the timelines and follow the laid-out process. This is critical for the successful rollout of our primaries,” she said.
The nomination exercise signals a crucial phase in DF’s preparation for the upcoming national elections, as the party gears up to field candidates at all levels across the country.
