The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has dismissed claims that it is dominant only in Lango sub-region, saying the party has fielded candidates across all regions of the country ahead of the 2026 elections.

Addressing journalists in Kampala on Wednesday, the party spokesperson Sharon Oyat Arach said the party has managed to attract candidates from all corners of Uganda, including the capital Kampala.

“We have candidates across the board from all parts of the country, including Kampala. As I speak, we have over five candidates within Kampala alone. One of them is here, the young lady in blue, she represents Busiro East,” Arach said.

She added that UPC has candidates for Kampala Woman MP, and Nakawa East among others, a sign she says that the party is regaining its past strength.

Sharon Oyat Arach, UPC spokesperson.

“This shows that UPC has grown to a point where we are reviving the positions we once held. We are going to prove wrong those who say UPC is only in Lango. Our presence cuts across Uganda,” Arach stated.

Arach disclosed that party president Hon. Jimmy Akena will personally campaign for all UPC parliamentary flag bearers across the country, urging them to harmonize and share their campaign roadmaps for effective preparations.

“It doesn’t matter which part of the country you are in; he will get to you and campaign until the final day of voting. Please prepare to welcome the president as he joins in canvassing support for our candidates,” she said.

Additionally, the party also called on the Independent Electoral Commission, security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure peaceful and fair campaigns throughout the electoral season.

“UPC reiterates that our campaigns should always be peaceful and issue-based. We pride ourselves on ideology and policy,” Arach emphasized, urging Ugandans to support and vote for UPC candidates in their respective areas.
