A 49-year-old man in Sheema district committed suicide by hanging following a misunderstanding with his wife, police investigates.
The deceased, Justus Muhereza Justus, a resident of Rweyeshera Cell in Kagango Division, allegedly took his own life on December 21, 2025. His body was recovered from a jackfruit tree, about 15 metres from his home.
Greater Bushenyi Region police spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa said they managed the scene in line with standard operating procedures, and conveyed the body to Kabwohe Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had unreported misunderstandings with his wife,” Tayebwa said, adding that police is currently investigating the incident to establish the exact cause of death.
Police have appealed to members of the public with any information that may help establish the truth behind the incident to share it confidentially with authorities.
“We shall keep the public updated in case of any new developments,” Tayebwa said.
The incident adds to a growing number of sudden deaths reported in the region, prompting police to urge families and communities to seek peaceful ways of resolving domestic disputes and to report cases of conflict early.
