Owners of the Electronic businesses have decried a flactuation in sales due to the continued closure of Facebook by the Ugandan government.

Traders under their umbrella; E-traders association have asked government to restore Facebook to enable them operate in a conducie bitech environment.

Addressing journalists in Kampala, Jumia Uganda Chief Executive Officer Ron Kawamara said the ban on Facebook has gravely curtailed e-commerce and negatively impacted thousands of businesses and entrepreneurs.

The traders further expressed concerns over extension of curfew guidelines as per the ministry of health.

Kwamara suggests that the curfew is extended from usual 10pm to 11pm to enable people get back to work.

Safe Boda co-founder and director, Ricky Thompson cried foul on the curfew for bodas requiring operators to stop at 6pm saying that the guideline is discriminatory in nature.

Ricky further revealed that Boda riders have lost up to 50 percent of their earnings due to the stringent curfew guidelines imposed on them by the government.

“…the curfew has reduced earnings of Boda riders by as much as 50 percent,” he said.
