PARROTS UG|INFRASTRUCTUCTURE REPORT:
The National Building Review Board (NBRB) on Friday released findings from its investigations into the collapsed building in Kisenyi Kampala which claimed six lives leaving about five others injured.
While releasing the report, Eng Flavia Bwire, the Executive Secretary NBRB disclosed that the construction materials used were of poor quality and did not meet the required standards.
She noted that there was no engagement of professionals like architects and engineers in the construction works.
According to the report, Kampala Capital City’s Authority (KCCA) building committee failed to ensure compliance in supervising the construction activities as required in the Building Control Act, 2013. According to a new report, the KCCA control officer is faulted for failing to inspect the illegal construction at the Kisenyi site and other parts of Kampala metropolitan.
