Over 100 secondary school teachers from Rushenyi County recently underwent a two-day training on the new curriculum introduced in secondary schools. The training, held at St. Paul’s SS Rushoka in Kayonza Sub-county, aimed to empower teachers with knowledge on the new curriculum.
The event was officiated by Rushenyi County Member of Parliament, Naome Kabasharira, who lobbied for the training through AMDA(Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association). Kabasharira praised AMDA for their efforts to improve education in the country, particularly in Rushenyi.
However, Atukunda Karamurira, AMDA Education Council Chairperson, raised concerns about the challenges faced since the introduction of the new curriculum. She highlighted issues such as poor implementation, lack of planning, inadequate resources, and limited access to technology.
Kabasharira acknowledged the government’s constraints in implementing the new curriculum, citing economic challenges. She expressed willingness to work with organizations like AMDA to address these challenges.
AMDA has announced plans to hold a mega health medical camp at Rushoka Health Center 4 on Saturday 7th August, 2024.
The training and upcoming medical camp demonstrate AMDA’s commitment to supporting education and healthcare in Rushenyi County.
