City socio-political and economic Think Tank discussions organized by Ambrosoli Consult Uganda Limited are set to restart next week after a short pause that sent think tankers on a Christmas break.
Although there are high expectations for this round of discussions, Managing Director Ambrose Byamugisha believes that they will not only produce breakthroughs but also shed light on how Uganda intends to approach diplomacy in response to social and economic challenges while conducting research and policy formulations under the auspices of the Ambrosoli Think Tank.
“We plan to center our discussions around topics that address challenges facing people in communities while focusing on issues that contribute towards national development,” Byamugisha said.
He said this year’s Think Tank will also focus on building skills and relationships for a better life for individual participants.
Despite well-functioning democratic systems being critical components of think tanks’ operations, younger democracies face several political pressures limiting freedom of expression as well as restricted funding which hinder conducive environments for these groups.
However, Ambrosoli Think Tank, the city’s only speaking Think Tank, has evolved in overtime to share expertise in research and innovation, public policy debates, and political decisions without interference.
The weekly debates, held at the Serena Hotel Kampala, feature accomplished keynote speakers from diverse backgrounds who are randomly selected to share their knowledge and expertise during talks designed explicitly for such forums.
