MBARARA
In his Easter message to the faithful of Mbarara Archdiocese and all people of goodwill, His Grace Lambert Beinomugisha delivered a stirring call for spiritual renewal, forgiveness and national healing. Fresh from the ad limina pilgrimage to Rome, the Archbishop conveyed blessings from Pope Leo XIV, who prayed for Uganda and invoked the risen Christ’s light to dispel darkness in families and communities.
Quoting the Gospel of Luke 24:5–6, Archbishop Beinomugisha reminded Christians to stop “searching for peace and hope from the graves” and instead embrace the living Christ. He urged believers to reject greed, cowardice, and hatred and to seek light through acts of love, forgiveness and prayer.
“Our beloved country has gone through wars, destabilization and the killing of innocent people,” he said. “Jesus calls us to stop all those acts and walk in peaceful life, as it is written in Matthew 5:9: Blessed are those who mediate and help people live happily together again.”
The Archbishop painted a vision of transformed villages where neighbors greet each other with smiles, youths dedicate themselves to agriculture and studies rather than crime and communities flourish in harmony. He likened resurrection to yeast in flour—quiet but powerful—helping faith grow and bear fruit for the benefit of all.
He called upon believers to converge at their parishes for the Eucharist and other sacraments, which nourish spiritual life just as food sustains the body.
“When you grow in faith and respect each other, this will boost your family’s wellbeing,” he emphasized.
Archbishop Beinomugisha concluded with a blessing: “Christ is risen, dwells in you. May you tap on Pope Leo XIV’s blessings, go and enjoy, for Jesus is risen. Happy Easter.”
