One person killed following a grisly road accident at Water Village round about along Mbale road in Tororo Municipality.
IP Mugwe Johnson Moses police spokesperson Bukedi South Region said, The accident, involved a Mercedes-Benz Actros Reg No.KDA 282D/ZG3646 and boda boda which crashed a passenger on motorcycle who died on spot.
Mugwe identified the deceased as Hellen Janepher Awiya aged 48 years a house wife to a Mr. Ometeno Geoffrey a resident of Maliri in Merikit sub -county in Tororo District.
“It’s alleged that both the motor vehicle and boda boda were from Tororo town heading towards Mbale upon reaching at water village Round about, the rider of the Motorcycle was seen overtaking the said vehicle from the left and in the process, he slightly brushed on the second last tyres of the vehicle leading to a side swipe, that made him loose control, crashed the passenger and died instantly.,” Mugwe revealed.
“After the incident, the driver didn’t stop but was intercepted and impounded by the traffic police at Simba Checkpoint on Mable Road,” He added.
The Vehicle is parked at Tororo CPS pending I.O.V inspection and body taken to Tororo hospital mortuary for postmortem.
