President Museveni also the Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF has appointed Brig. Gen. David Mugisha the commander of Special Force Command – SFC.
The appointment was announced on Thursday afternoon by the UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulaigye.
Brig Gen. Mugisha previously served as the deputy commander of the SFC until April 11 when he handed over office to the current deputy commander Brig. Gen. Charity Bainababo.
He was transferred to the UPDF 3rd Infantry Division, Moroto as second in Command replacing Brig Gen Eriazake Okolong.
Now, Brig Gen. Mugisha replaces his former boss at SFC, Brig. Gen. Felix Bisizoori who has been interchangeably transferred to 3rd Division as second in command
SFC is a specialised component of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), tasked with carrying out special missions in support of national military objectives. Key among the tasks is protecting the presidency.
It has also been used in the protection of key national leaders and installations countrywide.
In conducting operations, the command coordinates closely with the Land Forces, Air Forces and Reserve Forces of Uganda.
In other changes, Maj. Gen Samuel Kawaga has been transformed to Nairobi as defence advisor, Brig Gen Joseph Semwanga appointed commander of the 1st Division while Col Herbert Nabimanya has been transferred from SFC to Lands Forces.
The president has further promoted Lt. Col. Allan Matsiko and Maj. Duncan Kafeero to the ranks of Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel, respectively.
