A tragic incident occurred at the Deluxe Hotel in Kizinda Trading Center, along Bushenyi -Kasese highway when 54-year-old businessman, Isaac Ruhigwa Atwine was found dead.
According to police reports, Atwine, a resident of Bwegiragye in Ishaka, checked into the Deluxe Hotel on Wednesday evening with an unidentified woman who he had requested the hotel management not to record her details.
According to police reports, witnesses observed Atwine entering the hotel carrying half a glass of beer. While his personal details were logged, he insisted the woman’s identity remain anonymous.
The pair was assigned to room D8, a few moments later (at around 7:30 PM), the woman was seen leaving the lodge alone. Shortly after, she informed the hotel owner, known as Dotcom, that Atwine was in poor health.
The owner who was reportedly not present at the hotel, instructed his receptionist, Vivian Kihembo, to check on Atwine.
When Kihembo entered the room, she found Atwine unresponsive, covered by a bed cover and lying still on the bed. She quickly informed Dotcom, who reported the incident to the police.
Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson SSP Martial Tumusiime confirmed that Atwine’s body was transferred to Kampala International University Teaching Hospital for examination. Tumusiime also stated that no visible signs of torture were found on the body.
“Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death,” SSP Tumusiime said. “Authorities are also working to identify the woman who was last seen with Atwine.”
