One arrested for killing herdsmen in Ntungamo

Police in Ntungamo District on Friday December 31, 2021 arrested one suspect in connection with the murder of two people.

The suspect has been identified as a one Tashobya a resident of Kanoni village, kasenyi parish, Ngoma Sub County.

Police also identified the deceased as, Emmanuel Iradukunda 22years, a Rwandan national and David Bagwiza alias boy aged 18 years a resident of Kayenje parish Rweikiniro subcounty in Ntungamo district, all casual laborers at Charles Murenzi’s farm.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson said that, on the night of 30th December 2021, the deceased were attacked by un known people, who set ablaze their grass thatched hut and assaulted them to death.

Kasasira says that, the preliminary investigations show that the herdsmen have been at logger heads with herdsmen of the nearby sub county- Ngoma Sub County over cattle crossing for pasture.

He says bodies of the deceased were examined at the scene and handed over to relatives for a decent burial as investigations continue.
