BUSHENYI
A 20-year-old stepmom in Bushenyi district is in detention for torturing her stepdaughter to death.
Catherine Kyokusiima, born in Kyanika I zone, Ruto ward Rubirizi district and resident of Tank Hill, Central ward, Bushenyi municipality on June 14 allegedly tortured Faith Ankunda, 5, her stepdaughter who she threw on the floor and then hit her with a blunt object on the head.
The victim was rushed to Kampala International University teaching hospital Ishaka where she succumbed to skull injuries on June 22.
Absolum Aturinda, the deceased father told reports that the suspect has been living with him and the three children left behind by his first wife but, she had subjected them to torture.
The greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson, ASP Martial Tumusiime told reports that after committing this stressful incident, Kyokusiima went into hiding until today when she was arrested in Namungona Kampala.
