The call was made by the NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko during a mobilization meeting with leaders at Mum Resort Hotel in Iganga on Tuesday. She emphasized that leadership involves addressing the needs of the people, despite its difficulties.

“The people want to be given hope, and they want to see that the party and government find solutions to their problems. We are committed to ensuring that NRM regains its strong support in Busoga by addressing the people’s needs.” Namayanja said.

The NRM Deputy Secretary General said addressing community problems in Busoga sub-region will enable the NRM to regain strong support in the 2026 elections.

On the other hand, the Director of Mobilization and Cadre Development, Hon. Nansubuga Rosemary Seninde expressed concerns about challenges faced by fish and sugarcane farmers in Buganda and Busoga regions, respectively and called for the need to engage farmers to address these issues.

“As a secretariat, we realised that it was important for us to come back to the people and be able to interact with them to find solutions to their problems,” Seninde said.

Legislators from Busoga sub-region called for continued engagement, particularly in sectors like education, where parents are being asked for money despite the universal education program.

Responding to the leaders concerns, Namayanja said their concerns would be forwarded to relevant ministries and government agencies. She announced plans to hold more forums to gather community insights and follow up on the issues raised.

She noted that the party would engage with sugarcane growers in Jinja and the fishing community in the Mayuge district to find way forward on their challenges.

The Busoga meeting attracted over 200 leaders including, Members of parliament, local government leaders, Resident district commissioners, party structural leaders and stakeholders from the fishing and sugarcane growing communities.
