BUTALEJA: Members of Parliament from Busia and Butaleja district have raised concerns over the procedures for accessing Emyooga funds.
The MPs argue that the programme has instead impoverished the beneficiaries because of the stringent bureaucratic guidelines.
They have now asked the minister for microfinance HARUNA Kasolo to review and streamline these guidelines to meet people’s needs.
The legislators noted that the guidelines have kept on changing over time leaving out many groups which are still in need of the funds.
Speaking to journalists yesterday, Nebanda Andiru Florence, the Woman MP Butaleja district called for applicable approaches in the implementation of Emyooga project.
“We are raising our voices for our people of Butaleja regardingEmyooga projects. We need to see more applicable approaches in the implementation of this project. We need our people to benefit as well and we shall stop at nothing until Butaleja gets what we deserve this term,” Nebanda said.
The beneficiaries have also tasked the MPs to investigate the money from the district level to the commercial banks from where the funds are disbursed.
