Clarke International University (CIU) has announced plans to recognize Alumni who are creating a difference in their communities.
This was revealed by Sean Clarke, CEO Education Clarke Group during the launch of Alumni Gala Awards Dinner 2024 #AGAD at CIU Main Campus in Muyenga , Kampala on Friday.
He said they are committed to nurturing graduates who go into the world as leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
“Our mission as a university is to produce graduates that go out into the world to lead, innovate, and transform,” he stated. “We will also recognize those making a difference in their communities, in the region, and globally through their innovative and transformative contributions.”
Data from CIU shows that 3,500 students have graduated from the university since its established, with 93% gainfully employed and 25% of Uganda’s graduate nurses among them. The alumni include international students from 15 countries.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Evelyn Ayot, Patron of the Alumni association implored members to participate in activities that not only unite alumni but also enhance their livelihoods.
“Alumni associations are very good but very challenging to sustain,” she noted, stressing the importance of financially supporting the association through such initiatives.
Additionally, Sylvia Achebet, Chairperson of the Alumni association outlined the five award categories, which include leadership, innovation, transformation, entrepreneurship and commitment to promoting CIU. She noted that alumni can nominate outstanding individuals through online forms available on official alumni platforms.
“A vetting committee will oversee the selection process to ensure transparency,” said Achebet.
She urged alumni to engage actively in the nomination process.
The CIU #AGAD will be held on December 13, 2024, at the CIU Rock Arena in Muyenga, Kampala starting at 5 PM. Alumni interested in attending are required to contribute UGx 100,000 for the dinner.
