SCP Steven Tanui, the commander Kampala Metropolitan police has directed for the arrest of civilians who are impounding motorcycles and charged with impersonation.

“Traffic operations on Boda Bodas should be carried out by police officers in uniforms and traffic personnel should be on the lead and no civilian should be involved at all times,” said Tanui.

In a statement released by SSP Patrick Onyango, the spokes person KMP today, 14th November 2022, the commander urged officers on this operation to be professional and smart warning that any officer found of using personnel in civilian clothes to arrest motorcyclist will be arrested together with the civilians.

Boda Boda riders have also been asked not to impound motorcycles of their fellow riders stating that the culprits will be charged accordingly.

“Boda Boda cyclists are advised not to obey the directive of anybody in civilian clothes during operation,” Tanui advised.
