The ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda has been tasked to explain the abnormalities in enforcement of the school calendars.
This comes at a time when many schools started breaking off for second term holidays but the DP says there is disobedience of the calendar by some schools that have sent learners for a short period of time than that stipulated in the ministry of education schools calendar.
“Some schools break for 1 and half week, others two weeks and others a months. We want to pose a question to the Ministry of Education, what is the normal required period for students to break after every term?” DP questioned.
Ismail Kiirya, the UYD President a youth wing in DP faults officials at the ministry of slumbering at their jobs which has failed enforcement of the ministry’s programs.
“You have left this to schools which are just minding about making money only. Students are no longer getting enough time to rest because of the bad policies of schools,” he said
DP demands that the ministry should come out with proper guidelines for all public and private schools to follow than causing a crisis both on students and the parents.
When contacted for a comment on the ministry’s arrangements to enforce the implementation of the schools calendar, Dr. Denis Mugimba, the ministry’s spokesperson did not comment because he was attending a meeting.
