The owner of Executive Hotel Rushere in Kiruhura district is in police custody for allegedly orchestrating the kidnap of a 40-year-old man in Sheema district.

Edison Ahimbisibwe, 55, a resident of Kitamba cell, Kibanga East parish kitagata sub-county in Sheema district is accused of kidnapping Brian Agaba, 40, a resident of the same area.

Agaba was abducted from home on January 14, at around 2pm and bundled into a Toyota Wish vehicle Reg.no UBA 105S, driven by Andrew Twijukye, 37, and whisked away to unknown location.

The case was reported the following day, January 15, by Robert Nuwarimpa, LC1 chairperson of Kitamba cell at Kashekuro police station under SD Ref.04/15/01/2025
Police immediately launched a search operation.

Agaba Brian, 40, victim of kidnapping allegedly orchestrated by businessman Edison Ahimbisibwe, owner of Executive Hotel Kiruhura and others over land disputes.

Agaba was found drowning in River Ntungwa on the border with Kanungu and Rukungiri districts by some boys who were grazing animals on the river sides. They raised alarms which attracted residents who also informed Police from Nyamirama in Kanungu.

Recounting his ordeal soon after he was rescued from the river, the victim told police that his captors tied his hands and leg with ropes, blindfolded him with a piece of cloth, and subjected him to severe beating before throwing him into the river. He sustained multiple injuries on the head, hands and legs.

“He was then rushed to St Annah Health center by Nyamirama police of Kanungu district where he was admitted and treated from,” police reported.

The victim further disclosed that the kidnapping stemmed from the ongoing land disputes between him and the suspect.

Sheema Police were informed about the incident and the case was transferred from Kashekuro police station to Sheema Central Police station vide ref. CRB 040/2025.

Andrew Martial, the greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of Ahimbisibwe, prime suspect, adding that police have recorded statements from witnesses to aid in investigations.

Meanwhile, investigations into the alleged kidnap and the search for Twijukye and other suspects continues.

“One suspect, Ahimbisibwe Edison was arrested and Inquiries at hand,” he said.
