Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) electoral body has announced dates for the nomination of leaders of the National Executive Committee.
According to a program read by the party deputy spokesperson John Kikonyogo, Expression of Interest and picking of Nomination Forms will kick off starting on Friday 8th to Tuesday 12th September, 2023 at FDC headquarters Najjanankumbi.
“Return of nomination forms by ordinary (non National Executive Committee) members is scheduled between 13 and 16th September, 2023 whereas aspirants who are members on the cabinet will return the forms on 17th and 18th September, 2023,” said Kikonyogo.
They are party president and four deputies, party Chairperson and four deputies, general secretary and deputy, treasurer general, secretaries for; women, youth, persons for with disabilities among others.
Kikonyogo said only registered members of the FDC with party identification cards are eligible to contest for any position in the party.
This is after the party successfully completed the election of structure leaders from the village to district levels in a grossly opposed exercise by a section of leaders under the party spokesperson, Hon. Ssemujju Nganda and the party deputy president for central region, also the Lord Mayor of Kampala, Ssalongo Erias Lukwago.
It should be understood that the term of office for the current leaders of the FDC expires on October 6, 2023.
Although the term of office for the party president and his four deputies is remaining with about two years, Kikonyogo disclosed that management is in talks with the responsible leaders to sacrifice the remaining years and pick nomination forms so that all elections are conducted using same budget. He said this is due to the financial constraints affecting the party.
The party is set to elect NEC members on October 6th at UMA Show Grounds in Kampala.
