The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Youth League has mourned the passing away of Hon. Cecilia Ogwal Barbrah Atim, who is the district woman representative for Dokolo district.
Ogwal died on Thursday mourning at a hospital in India after a short illness.
In a Thursday morning condolence message, the FDC party Youth League president, Hon. Francis Adepo said, “What a dark Day for FDC!!
It’s indeed a dark day for FDC we have lost a gallant lady the Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal.”
“Losing your wisdom is intolerable, you will be missed beyond life! Your energies in the FDC shall remain feasible. Fare Thee Well Woman of virtue! You have fought a good fight and you have finished the race. Rest In Perfect Everlasting Peace Hon Cecilia,” Adepo mourned.
Ogwal has been a member of the FDC since 2011 when she switched from Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) to contest for woman MP of then newly created Dokolo district, a post she has held till her death.
Ayoo Patricia Elubu, National youth secretary for research and publicity who also doubles as PA to Hon. Acom Joan Alobo, woman MP Soroti City described the late Ogwal as an incredible, wonderful and caring woman who has caused great impact to many lives in her natuon.
“We send our prayers and deepest condolences for the loss of an incredible life the Hon.Celicia Ogwal the Dokolo Woman MP, we pray for strength and healing as we grieve the departure of such a wonderful and caring woman who was a special type and made a great impact on all of us,” Ayoo eulogized.
The speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Anitah Annette Among who is a former member of the FDC mourned Ogwal as a mother, mentor and role model.
“It is with a heavy heart and pain that I announce the passing of our Mother, Mentor and role model Imat Cecilia Atim Ogwal, the Honourable Member representing the Women of Dokolo District. I send my sincere sympathies to her dear husband and the family, friends, the people of Lango and colleagues! May her soul find eternal rest,” speaker Among said in a post on her official X platform.
Parliament also mourned its long term serving member and condoled with the bereaved.
“…It is a sad day for her family, the people of Lango, Parliament of Uganda and the country. We mourn the death of a political matriarch,” read a post on Parliamentary X.
Parliament, was yet to communicate details of Ogwal’s burial.
