LUKAAYA
There were moments of tension at God Care christian Nursery and Primary School in Kirinya zone, Lukaaya town council after a fire razed one of the dormitories on Friday morning.

According to the school headmistress Maria Emma Matovu, the fire destroyed a number of properties including pupil’s mattresses, beddings, books and other belongings.

“The fire outbreak destroyed pupil’s belongings and we are lucky that none of the learners was affected by the fire. When the fire started, they all moved out,” she said.

The school with the help of the residents managed to extinguish the fire using water, sand around the school.

Police was called and they visited the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, the cause of fire remains unknown but police says inquiries are underway.
