At least five people have been confirmed dead following an accident in Kibukuta swamp Kayabwe along Kampala – Masaka Highway.
This has happened today 26th, Dec 2023 in the morning after a serious clash between Toyota Hiance registration number UBM 4898 and Mercedes Benz number UAM445B that were all moving from Kampala side to Masaka.
According to ASP Faridah Nampiima, the traffic and road safety spokesperson, the deceased whose identities have not been identified yet include three female adults while two are male adults. She said that deceased were occupants of the Toyota Hiance, and other five unknown victims rushed to Nkozi hospital were all from Benzi.
ASP Nampiima defined the cause of the accident as over speeding by both vehicles.
According to her, it is also alleged that Mercedes Benze driver was overtaking in a terrible speed and lost control knocked Toyota Hiance which went off road and overturned and this made Benze overturned too.
In a bid to reduce on road accidents, Faridah Nampiima recommends us to use the road safely as she says, ” we wish to remind all road all road users to be vigilant and observe maximum road discipline”
