In a statement released today morning by the Traffic police spokesperson Faridah Nampiima, she revealed that the the accident that claimed the sensational FM station chief involved motor vehicle registration number UG 0382D (Toyota Hilux) that was being driven by LT. Col. Byaruhabga Ephraim the intelligence officer for the UPDF first infantry division in Kakiri and motor vehicle registration number UBK 320P Benz black in color which was being driven by Kamugisha Pius the Galaxy FM C.E.O.
“The territorial traffic police at Kajjansi have registered a fatal accident at Nakigala along the Entebbe – Kampala Express highway. The accident happened on 22nd October 2022 at around 10:00pm,” she said.
She adds that, “Both drivers motor vehicles UBK 320P Benz and UG 0382D Hilux were from Entebbe side heading to Busega side via the Entebbe – Kampala Expressway and towards Nakigalala at Kilometer 10, the driver of UBK 320P(Kamugisha) decided to overtake the Toyota Hilux which was driving in the outer lane at a short distance and in the process, he knocked the Hilux on the rear light on the driver’s side.”
Nampiina revealed that Kamugisha lost control and knocked the middle concrete barrier and then the vehicle crossed back to the outer lane, rolled to the trench then overturned several times up to the resting position approximately 600m from the point of impact.
“The cause of the accident has been attributed to reckless driving and drink driving as some Bottles of Alcohol were recovered from the vehicle of the deceased,” Nampiima adds.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago mortuary for postmortem.
