KAMPALA
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has accorded an official state burial to celebrated fallen playwright Alex Edward Kabangala Mukulu, popularly known as Alex Mukulu.
This was revealed by the State Minister for Labour Mary Kamuli Kutesa during the observance of tributes to the deceased at the National Theatre in Kampala, and later confirmed by the Minister for the Presidency, Babirye Milly Babalanda.
“Dear friends, I wish to inform you that the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Gen. Kaguta Museveni, has granted an official burial to the fallen statesman, Mr. Alex Edward Kabangala Mukulu. Accordingly,” she said.
Babalanda said the National Organizing Committee is now engaging the bereaved family to organize a befitting send-off.
Mukulu died on Sunday at Kiruddu Hospital at the age of 72. He will be buried on August 20, 2026, in Kijabijjo, Gayaza with full state honors.
