Ibanda District are the new Ankole Cup champions after edging Bushenyi 5–4 on penalties in a dramatic final at Kabwohe Playgrounds.
The clash ended 2–2 after normal time, setting the stage for a nail‑biting shootout.
Forward Marvin Orishaba was the star of the opening half, striking twice in the 34th and 51st minutes to give Ibanda a commanding 2–0 lead. His brace sent the Ibanda fans into jubilation as their side looked on course for a comfortable victory.
Bushenyi mounted a spirited fightback with goals from Baale and Aijuka which leveled the score at 2–2, stunning the crowd and forcing the game into extra tension.
Despite both sides pressing for a late winner, the deadlock held through 90 minutes.
The final was ultimately settled from the spot, where Ibanda held their nerve to convert five penalties against Bushenyi’s four. The victory capped off a thrilling contest and secured Ibanda’s place in Ankole Cup history
The win marks Ibanda’s most memorable triumph in recent years, while Bushenyi will rue missed chances but take pride in their spirited fightback.
