President Yoweri has directed the State House to give five (5) million shillings to each of the families of the children who died in an accident at Kasaka Secondary School in Gomba district.

“I hereby direct the State House to give 5m to each of the families of the 4 deceased students of Kasaka S.S and Shs1m to each of the 14 students still receiving treatment in Gombe Hospital,” Museveni ordered
On Tuesday 14th March, 2023 four students of Kasaka SS died after a Sino Truck registration number UBL 790 J rammed into a school building at around 3:30pm.
According to police, the truck driver lost control and rammed into the school fence and proceeded through to the school computer laboratory that was occupied by students and some teachers.
Three students died on spot and another one died momebts after he was rushed to the hospital.
According to the school management, other 14 students and some teachers were injured and are currently receiving treatment at Gombe hospital.
Police identified the deceased students as Evelyn Namagembe, S5, Mawanda Bosco, S2, Asege Hilda, S4, and another.
It was later established that the truck driver Wanume Abudala who has since been arrested is 26-years-old, the age which many people still question saying it’s not fit to drive such a heavy truck.
Addressing parliament on Thursday at Kololo independence grounds, President Museveni further directed the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and the Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka to get in touch with the families of the victims to ensure the truck owners compensate them as per laws of Uganda.
