“We have agreed with the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, that during the week of return of students, there will be no curfew hours,” Gen Katumba said.
The government has removed curfew on the days when students will be reporting back to schools.
The revelation has been made by the minister of works and transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala during the address to the media at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala.

“We have agreed with the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, that during the week of return of students, there will be no curfew hours,” Gen Katumba said.
He added that parents and guardians taking their children to different parts of the country will travel without any hinderances.
“You may find a parent has driven to Ntare school or Mwiri College and may be for one reason or another he has delayed there and he is coming late rushing to beat up curfew timw. To avoid this, curfew has been lifted,” he explained
On the issue of hiking transport fares as children are reporting back to schools, Katumba says they have held meetings with public transport operators and agreed on a uniform transport fare per route.

“We have agreed on the transport fares that they will communicate on respective routes,” he said.
He also urged taxi and bus opersators to thoroughly check lugguage to avoid challenges similar to the recent bomb explosions in Kampala.
“All lagguage on public transport must be checked. Do not say these are children for you may not know what could happen.”
