According to traffic police report 2024, the number of people knocked on Ugandan roads has increased from 12 to 13 people per day, showing that 4,806 Ugandans died in road crashes in 2023, accounting for 13 deaths per day which is an increase compared to the 4,534 deaths recorded in 2022.

Simon Kasyate, the spokesperson for Kampala capital city Authority (KCCA) suggests that the government should put strict laws to regulate careless drivers hence help to minimize accidents on roads.
He has disclosed that drivers don’t respect pedestrians , cyclists, boda boda riders because they know there are no laws to punish them which has increased road accidents.
Meanwhile, Alex Munyambabazi, the executive director of Amputee self-Help Network and Pedrine Prosthetic Accessibility Fund said that the State of the roads around Kampala cannot allow cycling and KCCA should do a needful adding there’s a need to educate road users how to use and follow roads signs to avoid accident.
