Commissioner Hellen Seku of the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) in the Office of the President encouraged patriots to embody the core values of patriotism noting that these will lead them to unimaginable opportunities and places.
Seku made these remarks during the pass-out ceremony of 210 tutors at Health Tutors College Mulago.
In her speech, delivered by NSPC Principal Communications Officer Ian Gumisiriza Jeremiah, Commissioner Seku emphasized discipline and resilience. She urged trainees to be agents of change, making a positive impact in their communities and leveraging their role as tutors to shape Ugandans’ perceptions.
Dr. Keren Carol Dreteru Ayikobua, Principal HTC Mulago commended Commissioner Seku for her unwavering commitment to promoting patriotism.
“I express gratitude to Commissioner Hellen Seku for her exceptional work and support. This wouldn’t have been possible without your help and guidance,” she noted
Ayikobua pledged to dedicate one week annually to patriotism training, making it mandatory for all students starting next year.
Upon completion of the training, she expects students to excel academically after completing the course, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to holistic education.
Michael Mutumba, representing the trainees, hailed President Yoweri Museveni and Commissioner Seku for bringing the patriotism program to their institution.
He requested uniforms for patriotism trainees, citing their role as behavior models and inspirations.
Out of 210 trainees who completed the ideological orientation, 69 were males and 51 females. Under NSPC facilitators’ guidance, they explored topics like citizenship, socio-economic transformation, financial literacy, ethics, and integrity.
The training aimed to shape responsible, resilient, and disciplined individuals contributing meaningfully to their communities and the nation.
The event was attended by different dignitaries from the Ministry of Education and Sports, Deputy RCC Kawempe Division, DPC, and O/C Mulago police station and the school community.
