Journalists have been warned against taking photographs and recording videos inside examination rooms.
The stern warning was issued by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on Thursday, reminding the public of the legal implications.
Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, said recording students during exams is illegal and could be interpreted as aiding and abetting examination malpractice.
“Kindly note that it is illegal to cover candidates while they are writing their examination, that is a form of malpractice, and u can be charged for aiding and betting malpractice,” Musamba stated. “One of the assumptions is that you want to take pics of the questions and share them. So, kindly desist, so we don’t get unnecessary issues.”
Today, Thursday, October 17, marks the fourth day of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations. Under the New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC), candidates began the day with Chemistry Practical and General Chemistry, while transitional exam candidates sat for Mathematics Paper 1 and will take Mathematics Paper 2 in the afternoon. Additionally, candidates under the NLSC will sit for Aural, Composition, and Theory exams later in the afternoon.
In related developments, UNEB has instructed headteachers to submit Continuous Assessment (CA) scores for Senior Four candidates under the NLSC before the deadline of October 30. UNEB has warned that candidates whose CA scores are not submitted will not be graded.
